How To Read Your Tyres

The first thing you will need to do is get all the size information from your current tyre – that’s the numbers and letters along the side. Once you have these, enter them into our quote calculator to see which options are going to be best for you.

Below is an explanation of what those numbers really mean:

Dimension Description
215 Your tyre width in millimeters
60 This is the aspect ratio, or the ratio of your tyre’s width to height
R This means your tyre is a radial tyre; almost all tyres are radial tyres
15 This is the diameter of your tyre in inches
94 This is the load capacity and determines how much weight your tyre can carry
H This indicates the maximum speed your tyre can sustain

Load Capacity

The table below shows the maximum load each tyre can carry. This is shown at a tyre inflation pressure of 36 psi. As standard the current load capacity on your existing tyres will be sufficient but if you are in any doubt contact your manufacturer directly. Tyre Medics can help you find the correct load rating for your tyres - just give us a call on 0800 970 9867.
